Nicholas Meisinger

This is Nicholas’ fifth year performimg in the St. Charles County Youth Orchestra, having spent three years in Cadenza before joining Symphony last year. Nicholas has played viola since fourth grade, participating in elementary, middle school and high school orchestras. His current private viola instructor is William Bauer, who is affiliated with the Webster University Community Music School. Last year Nicholas was selected to play viola in the St. Louis All-Suburban Orchestra as a sophomore. He also perfomed as violist in the pit orchestra for Parkway West High School’s production of Pippin. Nicholas learned to play electric bass guitar his freshman year of high school and performed with the Parkway West High School Jazz Band for two years using this instrument. Last spring he began learning to play the double bass and is now performing in his junior year with the PWHS Jazz Band using this instrument. Beginning early this last summer he now also plays double bass with the Confluence Chamber Orchestra, an inter-generational full-sized chamber orchestra that performs at various venues such as the St. Louis Central Library, St. Louis History Museum, St. Louis Art Museum and other private locations. His current private double bass instructor is Erik Harris, who is the principal bassist for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Nicholas enjoys improving his musical performance outside of school and private instruction. This last summer he particpated in the Univerity of Missouri St. Louis Strings Camp, Illinois Chamber Music Festival, and the St. Charles Community College Jazz Band Camp. His other interests include mathematics, science, and literature. Nicholas would like to thank the conductors and staff of the St. Charles County Youth Orchestra, his private and school instructors and his parents for their continued support and encouragement.
