Ian Chung

Ian is a 13-year-old violinist in the 8th grade. This is his second year at the Saint Charles Youth Symphony Orchestra, and he is very excited to be a part of this group of talented musicians for the 2023-2024 season. Ian's latest accomplishment is winning the SCCYO Mike Russo Concerto Competition junior division in 2023. He also achieved third place in the MMTA state competition which was held in November 2022 for the 7th to 9th grade string division. Ian currently studies with Pavel Ilyashov and is incredibly thankful for his dedication, passion, and the hours of instruction and encouragement that Pavel has provided. Ian cannot say thank you enough to Sunghee Hinners who taught him how to play piano and the foundation of music. He also appreciates Rebecca Pantano, the director of the Parkway West Middle School orchestras, who encourages and supports his musical development.
